Volantis is the oldest of the free cities. It was founded as an outpost of the Valyrian army, just outside the fief. When Valyria fell, the survivors fled to Volantis. It is the free city located further south, at the mouth of the great river Rhoyne. The city has a very large wall called the black wall that surrounds the old town, in this area only free men born in the city can live. To cross the river there is a huge bridge with its own buildings on the sides. The cult of the city takes place in the temple of R'llor.
