Calamosca is one of the town beach of Cagliari , located about 4 km away from the city center . The beach is located in the middle of a small cove bordered by a cliff in the west and from Sant'Elia hill east . Nearby stands the eponymous tower of Calamosca , built by the Spanish in the seventeenth century as part of the anti - Barbaresco defensive system of the Gulf of Cagliari.

In the western part it is located on a cliff with a tower : " Devil's Saddle. " The name comes from a legend : Lucifer was impressed by the beauty of the Gulf of Cagliari and tried to seize it , so God sent his angels to hunt Lucifero.Durante the battle Lucifer fell on the promontory giving it its current form.
